Alara Medical Group
Started in 2014, Alara Medical Group was founded to be affiliated with the Premier Patient Healthcare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) as a Medicare-enrolled entity. In this role, it served primarily as a holding company in a passive capacity. Alara’s founding physician, Dr. Mackey, holds four active board certifications: medical oncology, hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine, and obesity medicine.
After discontinuing the relationship with PPHC a few years later, Alara was reconfigured to become a multifaceted small business. It currently employs 2 physicians and provides practice management services including Human Resources and Benefits.
It also provides a vital function in funding the research interests of its member physicians. Our physicians have published dozens of peer-reviewed papers and abstracts in the fields of hematology/oncology, radiology, dermatology, neurosurgery, transplant surgery, cardiology, and more. The research supported by Alara Medical Group has been presented at conferences worldwide, including Austria, Argentina, England, Italy, and the United States.
